talking helps discovery, healing and growth
“I was struggling, lacked direction and felt overwhelmed with confusion, pain and loss. Helen opened my eyes to my own needs and gave me the courage and strength to face and overcome heartbreaking personal challenges.”
about Helen Zaman
REGISTERED MEMBER SNCPS (Acc.), B.A. Hons
How society and groups influence the way we identify ourselves and others, I was fascinated by as a sociology student. This evolved into listening for the meaning that we give to the events that happen in our lives, and my understanding developed through my training to become a counsellor.
I was inspired by the landscape of North Wales, with a lasting memory of sitting by the window in French ‘A’ Level class and looking over to Snowdon in the distance. I love nature and the meditative quality of a walk down the Peak Forest Canal in Marple. In my practice, I now have daily conversations with people about their inner landscapes, the climbs to the peak moments in their lives, the troughs of difficult times, and the meandering paths that often yielded the greatest understanding of what has become important to them.
Having a Pakistani dad and a mum with Celtic roots, I also have a particular interest in observing how different cultures shape our lives.
I’m able to offer a confidential service and a safe and welcoming space, that will allow people’s narratives to unfold.
